Trigger Adjustment

Go gradually. Extreme adjustments on either screw can stop the marker from firing at all, or damage the trigger switch. Make small changes and test between each one.

Two set screws control the Ion's trigger feel — stroke length, stop point, and pull tension.

Stop-point screw

Located near the bottom of the trigger, adjusted with a .050" hex key. Turning it in stops the trigger sooner after it fires the marker; turning it out lengthens the stroke, making the pull feel "sloppier."

Tension / pre-travel screw

Located behind the trigger guard, just above the rubber grip — this is the magnetic tension and pre-travel adjustment. It's easiest to reach by removing the left-side grip screws (the side with the gauge) and folding the grip back behind the trigger guard. Turning it in brings the trigger closer to the switch, shortening the pull and making it feel "snappier."

If the trigger won't fire the marker

Check whether either set screw is turned in too far, putting constant pressure on the trigger switch — back both screws out gradually until the marker fires normally again. If that doesn't resolve it, the trigger switch itself may be damaged and need replacement — see Troubleshooting.
