Aftermarket Detents

Detents are the small tensioned pieces inside the feed tube that hold the next paintball in place until the bolt strips it forward on firing — without them, gravity and recoil alone would let paint free-fall and double-feed.

Stock detents

Spring-loaded plastic detents built into the feed tube. They work, but they're the single most commonly swapped small part in the aftermarket-Ion community — see below for why. Sold separately if you just need OEM replacements: Oregon Paintball carries them.

TPU Ball Detent Caol (community design) A Printables.com community member modeled these after finding no detents for sale, compatible with the same broad Ion family (Ion, GOG/eNMy, eNVy, G1). Print in soft TPU, not a rigid filament, since it needs to flex like the stock rubber part. This hasn't been tested and is not community-proven yet.
Delrin Ball Detent Set Check-It Products Delrin balls on coil springs (SKU GG02-21). Check-It Products closed years ago, reportedly absorbed into KEE, but genuine stock exists at Adrenaline Paintball & Airsoft, confirmed with a working add-to-cart. The same set is also resold on eBay if Adrenaline's listing ever sells out.
Reaction / Instinct Magnetic Detents Kila The most-recommended aftermarket detent in Ion community discussion. A magnet replaces the spring, which builders credit with smoother, more consistent ball drop. Kila sold two Ion-specific products, Reaction and Instinct, still listed at E-Paintball, but Kila is now a "Legacy Paintball Brand" — existing stock only, not an active line.
Spring Detents New Designz (NDZ) The most common alternative to Kila's magnetic detents — spring-tension, not magnetic. NDZ pivoted entirely to firearms accessories and makes no paintball products anymore. The E-Paintball link is a reference only, not confirmed stock, since that store is dormant.
Fly-On Ball Detents TechT Spring-loaded Delrin detents, marketed to "minimize bolt drag, enabling lower dwell settings." TechT's listing (item #SP003) names Ion, XE, EOS, SP8, Epiphany, SP1, Vibe, and GOG eNMEy (V1/V2) as compatible, confirmed in stock. TechT's own page title reads "Smart Parts / GOG Delrin Ball Detents," not "Fly-On" — same item, different internal name.
