Smart Parts built the whole Ion family — Ion, Epiphany, SP8 (2005–06, "first generation") and Ion XE, EOS, SP1, Vibe (2008, "second generation") — off a shared design, so a lot interchanges. "Ion 2.0" isn't a distinct entry in that split; see the Ion 2.0 page for where it actually fits.
Universal across the whole family
- Barrel thread — Ion thread fits every model listed here (also Impulse, Nerve, Luxe, Shocker NXT)
- Bolt — the stock bolt and most aftermarket bolts (Firebolt, etc.) are compatible across the family
- 9V battery power, similar board adjustment scheme, HPA or anti-siphon CO2

Epiphany is the real outlier here — different
exoskeleton material, different trigger pin, different ASA, and it
runs at higher internal operating pressure than the standard Ion line.
This is the same reasoning behind keeping Epiphany as a fully separate
guide track rather than folding it into the Ion 1.0/2.0/XE comparison.
Where interchange stops: despite sharing a
manufacturer, the Ion platform shares essentially nothing internal
with the Shocker or Nerve lines — different electronics, solenoid,
frame, trigger, vertical adapter, and firing assembly. Generic
accessories (grips, barrels, feednecks) are the only crossover.
